Usta Art originated from Iran, flourished in Mughal durbars, and merged with Indian culture. The then-king of Bikaner, Raja Rai Singh, welcomed nawab Usta artists to his domain. Bikaner's Usta artists created a new branch of Usta art. Their descendants brought it to life in the shape of Bikaner's magnificent Junagarh Fort's Anoop palace, Chandra palace, Karan palace, and Phool Mahal. The art is still alive and well, and Usta artisans may be seen performing the trade that their forefathers taught them.
